Warner Bros has officially announced the sequel to The Batman, with Robert Pattinson, of course, returning to the role of Bruce Wayne. This revelation came via the company’s special panel at CinemaCon 2022, where among other things it confirmed that “The Batman 2” – or whatever it will be called – will be directed and written by Matt Reeves .
Other information about the Dark Knight’s 2nd film hasn’t been released, and we don’t know yet if all the faces we saw in the last film 1 will return. This announcement, of course, is not surprising as Pattinson’s The Batman was a huge commercial success with over $759 million at the global box office and is the number 1 grossing film currently for 2022.
In case you haven’t seen the film yet, you can read its official synopsis below:
From Warner Bros. Pictures include Matt Reeves’ The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson in the dual role of Gotham’s avenger and his alter ego, reclusive billionaire Bruce Wayne.
For the past two years, he’s stalked the streets of Gotham as Batman, striking fear into the criminals who rule this city in the shadows. With very few trusted allies like Alfred Pennyworth ( Andy Serkis ) and Lt. James Gordon ( Jeffrey Wright ), between the corrupt network of authorities and prominent personalities, the lone punisher has been established as the embodiment of vengeance against his fellow citizens.
When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of incredible sadistic murders, a secret lead sends the world’s best detective on a case in the underworld. There he meets characters like Selina Kyle aka Catwoman ( Zoe Kravitz ), Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin ( Colin Farrell ), Carmine Falcone ( John Turturro ) and Edward Nashton aka The Riddler ( Paul Dano ).
