You have an event or the holidays are here, so instead of calling your friends one by one, you’d like to send a message to all of them.

In these circumstances, you’ve searched the internet for a solution and discovered that it’s possible to send one message to everyone simultaneously on WhatsApp. Yes, but how? Well, if you give me a few minutes of your precious free time, I can explain it to you in this tutorial dedicated to just that topic.

In the following lines, in fact, you will be shown, in a simple but detailed way, how to do this from your smartphone and computer. What do you think? Towards the end, you will be satisfied and happy with what you have learned.

Before we get into the topic, I’d like to clarify a few things about the functionality that can be used to send a message to all WhatsApp contacts at once.

This can be done using broadcast lists. In case you haven’t heard of them, these are lists that can be created to allow you to send the same message to multiple users at the same time.

The person on a broadcast list doesn’t know they’ve been added to it (unless they’re told so) and receives the message privately, as if it were a regular conversation. Any reply is then received privately by the list creator.

For each broadcast list it is possible to add a minimum of 2 contacts and a maximum of 256. In addition, in order to be added to the list, the contacts in question must have the number of the person who created them saved in the address book of the mobile phone with which the WhatsApp account is associated.

In short, although broadcast lists have some similarities to groups, where all participants (maximum 256) can join the conversation as a group, they are fundamentally different.

The same is true, in a way, for the message forwarding function, with which broadcast lists share the ability to send the same message to multiple contacts. However, in this case, the maximum number of contacts to which messages can be forwarded is 5 and it is essential that the message of interest has already been sent to someone or has been received.

Please note that all messages sent using broadcast lists can be deleted in a similar way to ‘normal’ conversations.

How to send a message to all WhatsApp contacts at once on Android

Open WhatsApp, go to the Chat tab and click the three vertical dots button in the top right corner. Then choose the New Broadcast option from the menu that opens and select all the contacts you want to send to (by clicking on their name in the list that appears).

Next, click on the green bookmarked button at the bottom right of the screen, enter the message you want to send to all selected contacts in the text field, or alternatively click on the paperclip symbol to send documents, photos, audio recordings, locations or to share contacts, then click on the green paper plane button at the bottom right. If you want to send a voicemail message, press the microphone symbol button at the bottom of the screen.

You will then be able to go back to the newly created playlist and send additional messages, as well as view messages you have already sent, by selecting the playlist from the Chat tab in WhatsApp. You can easily distinguish a mailing list from other conversations by the megaphone icon.

If you want to read the replies your message recipients have received, you will need to open the individual conversations, which you can view from the WhatsApp Chat tab. Within conversations, you can also view messages you have sent via the mailing list, which will be easily recognizable by the megaphone icon.

If you wish to delete the list, click the Delete broadcast list button at the bottom of the screen and confirm your intentions by clicking the Delete button.
