News about the second generation of AirPods Pro, also called AirPods Pro 2, has been around for a very long time. According to renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will launch its highly anticipated new wireless headphones in the second half of 2022.
Although Apple launched its third generation AirPods last fall, it continues to sell second-generation AirPods. However, according to Kuo, the company will not repeat this scenario on the new AirPods Pro. After the launch of the second-generation AirPods Pro, sales of the original AirPods Pro will be discontinued. Not surprising, given that the original AirPods Pro were introduced in late October 2019.
Kuo pointed out that interest in third-generation AirPods has remained significantly low as sales of second-generation AirPods continue. The experienced analyst said that because of this, Apple has reduced its AirPods 3 orders by 30% to its manufacturing partners.
Kuo previously said that the AirPods Pro 2 will have a significantly improved wireless chip compared to the H1 chip of the original AirPods Pro. That chip handles audio-related functions such as active noise cancellation. Improving these functions will also increase battery life. Also among the expectations is that the new AirPods Pro will support lossless sound in Apple Music.
One of the features previously shared by Kuo was that the charging case of the new AirPods Pro may make noise and be easier to find when lost. Among the innovations is that the case will be waterproof.
Claims that Apple may move to a design where the earbuds are removed from the new AirPods Pro have previously come to the fore. If this claim turns out to be true, it’s safe to say that the new AirPods Pro will have a similar design to the Beats Studio Buds released last year.
According to another claim, the AirPods Pro 2 will come with motion sensors for exercise tracking. These sensors are said to support the Apple Watch .
