Finally, fans who were waiting for Attack on Titan’s grand finale yesterday, possibly with a double episode, will have to wait again.

Specifically, Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 wrapped yesterday with episode 87 and immediately following that the relevant announcement from the creators that the Final Season will finally continue. Specifically, Attack on Titan Final Season Part 3 is expected to conclude the beloved anime sometime in 2023 .

At this point, it’s worth noting that the original manga, on which the anime is based, has 139 chapters and was completed in April 2021. Its ending divided the community quite a bit, which didn’t bring very good reactions on the ending’s events.

The anime has now reached about chapter 130 of the manga, through the 28 episodes of the Final Season. MAPPA therefore has 9 more chapters of the original material to adapt.

For now, we don’t know how many episodes the Final Season Part 3 will be split into, nor do we know if it will faithfully follow the original manga’s ending, as it’s not unlikely that the studio will change details in their own story. More details, such as the specific release date, are expected to be announced as we get closer to the debut of Part 3 in 2023.

Below is the trailer that accompanied the announcement, in which it’s worth noting that we see Levi once again wearing his ODM gear, ready for action.
