The 54-member board of directors of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has made a new decision on Will Smith over his Oscars slap.
The famous actor has been banned from attending any Academy ceremonies and events for the next 10 years, including the Oscars. The ban will apply to both physical and virtual attendance.

The Academy also thanked Chris Rock, who was slapped in the face, “for maintaining his composure under extraordinary circumstances”. Speaking to the press after the decision, Smith said he respects the Academy’s decision.
At the 94th Academy Awards, Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock, who made a joke about cutting his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair due to sinus disease, and later apologised to the entire audience for the act.
