Discovering a whole pile of important emails that aren’t going to the intended recipients is not a good sight to behold. This is a problem mostly encountered by Gmail users. Every time they try to send a message, it gets queued up in Gmail’s outbox and won’t be sent. The problem is not permanent and therefore solutions are available. Find out what you can do when your email is stuck in Gmail’s outbox!
Email is stuck in Gmail outbox
Previously, we saw how to send emails stuck in Outlook’s outbox. Proceeding in the same direction, we will see how to send blocked emails in the Gmail outbox. If Gmail is not sending emails and you find that the email is stuck in Gmail’s outbox, to resolve the issue, we recommend that you:
- Check attachment size
- Try clearing your Gmail cache
- Make sure Gmail is not set to Offline
- Close apps running in the background
Emails can get stuck in your outbox for a number of reasons.
1]Check the attachment size
If you attached a file to your email, make sure it’s within the allowed limit, which is currently 25MB.
2]Clear Gmail Cache
Open Chrome settings. You can do this by simply opening a new tab and entering the following – chrome://settings/ in the URL field and hit ‘To enter’.
Then choose ‘Privacy and Security‘ link in the left sidebar.
Choose ‘Cookies and other site data‘.
Scroll to ‘See all cookies and site data‘.
Open the page and scroll down to find ‘email.google.com’ Starter.
When you see it, select the trash can icon next to it.
3]Make sure Gmail is not set to Offline
If you have configured your Gmail in offline mode, it can forward your email to the Gmail outbox. So check whether offline mode is enabled or not. For that,

Choose Gmail ‘Settings’ > ‘See all parameters‘ and choose the ‘Offline‘ tab.
Then, on the page that opens, check whether the box next to ‘Enable offline messaging‘ is checked or not. If it is checked, you will need to uncheck the box and see if the issue is resolved.
4]Close apps running in the background
If you are using the Gmail app on your smartphone, close background apps to resolve the issue. For that-
- Go to your App settings.
- Show the Active apps on your device.
- Choose the app you want to close and ‘Force stop‘ he.
- Repeat this step with all active applications.
