A relatively new feature in Outlook.com is Happy animations. The feature adds animation to words conveying expressions such as greetings, compliments, and congratulations in your email. Although good, not all of us like it. So if you’d rather eliminate those unnecessary happy animations, Outlook Web App offers an easy way to turn them off.
Disable happy animations in Outlook.com
Cheerful animations appear when you receive an email in the Outlook Web App reading pane. If these emails contain a word that expresses a surprise or a strong emotion (like Congratulations, Happy Birthday, etc.) and you move the mouse cursor over it, a shower or a light shower of glitter will appear.
If you don’t like these Joyful animations, you can turn them off as follows:
- Access Outlook settings
- Disable happy animations in the reading pane
Please note that happy animations are only visible in modern version of Outlook Web App
1]Go to Outlook settings
Launch Outlook.com.
When prompted to sign in, enter your email id and password and press ‘Enter‘.
Then click on the ‘Settings‘ visible in the upper right corner and choose ‘View Outlook settings‘ option. You can see it at the bottom of the screen.
2]Disable happy animations in the reading pane
In the left pane, choose ‘To post‘ and ‘Compose and reply‘ of ‘Layout‘ after that.
Now scroll until you find ‘Happy animations‘ option. By default, the option is enabled and reads: Outlook automatically displays a festive explosion of colorful shapes in the reading pane when you open a message containing words such as Happy Birthday and Congratulations.
To disable these animations, simply uncheck the checked box.
The action, once confirmed, will instantly disable “happy animations” in Outlook.com.
