Disable auto-refresh in Google Chrome

Although there is no direct method to disable webpage auto-refresh in Chrome, you can opt to download a third-party extension to block webpage auto-refresh. Follow the steps below to disable automatic web page refresh in Chrome

Download and install it Auto Refresh Blocker or Stop auto-refresh Chrome Store extension.

Type chrome://extensions in the URL and navigate to Options.

Go to Details and click on Extension options.

Check the option with Disable Meta Refresh elements in pages and click on close.

Additionally, one can disable automatic tab deletion to prevent tabs from auto-refreshing.

Go to Chrome://flags in the URL.

Type Automatic removal of tabs in the search bar and choose Disable in the drop-down menu for the Auto-reject tab flag.

One can also choose to blacklist websites from an automatic refresh. To do this, open the website you want to blacklist.

In the top right corner of the page, choose the option Auto Refresh Blocker and click on Blacklist website.

Disable auto-refresh in FireFox

Type about: setup in the URL and click Enter.

In the search bar, type the name of the preference accessibility.blockautorefresh.

Right-click on the preference name accessibility.blockautorefresh and choose the to fall over option from the drop-down menu.

Change the value to TRUE false to disable automatic web page refresh.
