Google Photos automatically backs up all your photos and videos taken on your Windows PC, iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac computers as long as you have an active internet connection and are signed in to Google Photos. Unlike other photo storage services, Google Photos stores your photos and videos in Full HD resolution without compressing them.

How to use the Google Photos app

You can get started with Google Photos by downloading and installing it on your iOS device or Android device. There is also a web version of the app which can be used on a Mac or PC.

  1. For the Google Photos app,
  2. Launch the application on your Smartphone.
  3. Select the desired tab to manage your photos or videos.
  4. Use memories
  5. In the case of the web version, go to Google Photos.
  6. Select the desired tab in the sidebar to manage content or
  7. Create or upload new content.

We will use the application on both, a Smartphone and a PC!

Launch the application, select the desired tab displayed at the bottom of the Smartphone screen. The application displays 3 tabs namely,

  • Pictures – gives direct access to your Photos. Mark important events and display them in a timeline view.

How to use Google Photos app

  • To research – Allows you to discover photos with people or animals you have tagged, places you have visited, etc. You can even explore the places you’ve visited on Maps via Google Photos.
  • Library – organizes content into separate categories such as Favorites, Utilities, etc.

Select the desired tab to manage content. Please note that the ‘For you’ tab is no longer visible since it has been replaced by ‘Memories‘.

To access it, press ‘Pictures‘ and select a memory at the top.

You can download Google Photos for iOS & android.

Choose the desired tab from the left sidebar. Like the Smartphone app, the web version has 3 tabs, namely Photos, Search, and Library, but displays them in a sidebar on the left side. You can use it to access stored content or create/upload new content.

You can choose to create new album, shared album, movie animation, collage. Just click on the ‘Create‘, beside the ‘To research‘ and follow the on-screen instructions. Also, if you want to upload a new collection of photos or videos, use the ‘Download‘ button.
